Today’s featured Gardener is with Blooming Anomaly, selected images taken from her garden.

Where do you garden?

My balcony garden is located in Orange County, CA near the coast.

Why did you start gardening?

I started gardening to help relieve depression that I was experiencing at the time. Gardening brings so much joy to my life that I don’t plan on stopping anytime soon!

What do you like most about gardening?

There is so much that I enjoy about gardening. I recently got the hang of growing flowers from seed, and enjoy watching a beautiful flower grow from a seed that I planted.

What are some things that you grow?

I love flowers, so I grow mostly flowers in my garden. I have several plumeria trees and hibiscus in planters. I also have a bunch of succulents since those grow well in this mild and hot climate.

What’s the biggest thing you’ve learned from gardening?

Patience! I’m a patient person, but gardening has taught me to be even more patient. In this fast-paced world we live in, its nice to be reminded to slow down through gardening and growing plants.

What are your biggest successes and failures with your garden?

I live in a crowded area and can only grow plants in containers since I only have a balcony to work with, but have been able to grow a lot in my small space over time. If you have the will, there is a way! I failed a lot when trying to grow plants from seeds. It took a lot of trial and error but I finally found a way!

Any advice for beginning gardeners?

Have fun and enjoy the process! Gardening is a lot of trial and error. Start with a plant you like and that grows well in your area, and branch out from there. You may soon become addicted to gardening like me!
